If there is a God...

Sony Confirms PlayStation 3 Release Date
"After a few weeks of PlayStation 3 2007 launch date, Sony has confirmed the PS3 spring 2006 release date. There has been speculation going on during the past two weeks, that Sony PlayStation 3 just might be delayed until 2007. Well, Sony has confirmed that all systems are go for PS3 Spring 2006 release. The company has denied reports that the PlayStation 3 launchwill be delayed, and said it was still planning a spring 2006 launch for the video game console. The PS3 next-gen console is on track. The launch of PlayStation 3 could be make or break for Sony as the company is ailing in other sectors of its business. The console is also the device it will use to push its own Blu-ray high-definition DVD format. The Blu-ray technology is set to be rolled out by various companies in March 2006. The rival HD DVD will be launched around the same time and any delay to PS3 would give the backers of HD DVD, including Microsoft and Tohsiba, an advantage. However, it's not clear whether Sony is talking about a spring global launch or just in Japan. We are thinking global at this time, but many things can change from now until Spring 2006." [link]

AAAHAHAHHAHAHA.......

As Usual i can't make this stuff up anymore...

Ring of disc death (Xbox 360 annoyance #008)
"Since our first experience with the Xbox 360 disc-scratching issue, numerous anecdotal reports from around the game-o-sphere have given us a better feel for the conditions under which the issue occurs. This is a wrap-up of those issues and of the annoyance:

vertical orientation alone does not scratch DVDs

horizontal orientation alone does not scratch DVDs

movement of the Xbox 360 during play scratches DVDs

movement could be someone running through the house and sending shocks to the system through your floorboards

movement is often done on purpose when friends try to show friends the cool way in which the ring of light reorients itself with its fancy mercury switch

movement is often accidental, as when annoying controller cables are tripped over in the dark, jarring the Xbox 360

sometimes, people just get sick of poorly designed boss fights, and kick their Xbox 360s in frustration

and sometimes, customers are committing fraud by purposefully destroying games that have been played to completion so that they can be exchanged for store credit that is used to purchase new games

This annoyance falls into the ”so annoying we want to kick the family pet” category. I have moved various home electronics devices while they were spinning DVDs and audio CDs and not once have I hosed a media disc so thoroughly. I regularly move my laptop while its hard disk and DVD drives are spinning, and no damage has occurred yet. Sure, a console is meant to be stationary, but if fault tolerance is the norm amongst home consumer electronics devices, it should be the norm for the Xbox 360 as well because customers have come to expect that base level of fault tolerance." More Bad News Xbox Owners...

Again from Console Wars.

"DO NOT CHANGE THE POSITION OF YOUR XBOX 360 WHILE IT IS ON WITH A DISC IN THE DRIVE OR YOU RISK POTENTIALLY DAMAGING YOUR GAME DISC.A growing number of Xbox 360 customers are reporting having problems with their disc's getting scratched by the DVD drive when switching the unit's position from vertical to horizontal and vise versa.. Initially we thought this was the usual fanboy vs. hater propaganda that swirls around the launch of any new console like this. It didn't take long until the seriousness of the situation reared it ugly head right here in the Llamma's shop. I personally have experienced this issue not once but twice already. Here I was at a friends house helping him get this 360 all setup and networked for Live. In the process we decided to lay the Xbox on it side instead of the upright position.. I thought nothing of doing this while the unit was powered up and in the middle of a game. Big Mistake! I felt and heard the scratch happen and immediately thought; uh oh.. I think I just ruined your Call of Duty 2 buddy... sorry! You would have figured I learned my lesson and would be more careful next time I attempted something like that. Yeah.. guess not. Later on back at the Llamma shop I was taking some photos of a 360 when I decided to get a horizontal shot, again it was powered up so I made sure to do it more carefully. I guess that I was not careful enough because I got that distinct vibration and scratch noise again. There was no doubt in my mind what had just happened. I ejected the disc just to see that it was scratched like the first disc in a almost identical fashion. It will prove interesting to see if the reported Microsoft response is true or stands about replacement of the damaged game disks. Here at Llamma we just wanted to know why it was happening." [more]

First Xbox360 Game Pirated?
"It seems that it has taken those crazy software pirates only 1 day to rip the data off an Xbox360 Disc. According to an nfo file found by us on the web, the game Call Of Duty 2 has been released in .iso form. We are posting this as a rumor for now as there is no way to confirm is this indeed works without some sort of mod. Check it out for yourself. Click read more for the full info." [link]

Xbox 360 Vs The World

Well the good ol' Xbox 360 makes the the news again. After the sketchy start to the "Next Gen" system where here again talking about problems that plague the system. Where to start...
I couldn't make this stuff up, and im using these quotes from another blog... the links are on my other site called "The Console Wars". Very informative.

Xbox 360: BEWARE, I HUNGER!!!
"Apparently, all the jokes made about the Xbox 360's massive power brick are well deserved. After some experimenting with the 360 and other equipment, we've discovered an interesting fact about Microsoft's next-gen console: it's obscenely power hungry. We tested the 'box using Extech's MA200 power meter, which gives real-time power consumption results. It turns out that the Xbox 360 draws about 160 watts of power, over twice as much as the original Xbox, which draws 74 watts, and the PlayStation 2, which draws about 50. In fact, the great white beast chomps down more electricity than almost every piece of living room electronics we tested, including the JVC RX-D702 A/V receiver, the Denon DVD-3910 DVD player, and a DirecTV HD TiVo. The only pieces of A/V gear that draw more power than the 360 are big-screen high-definition TVs.Playing Xbox 360 for an average of four hours a day will eat up about 233 kilowatt-hours per year. Depending on where you live, that's an annual bill of $10 to $35 for the Xbox 360 alone. Of course, the Xbox 360 isn't as big a power hog as a refrigerator or an oven, but it uses more than double the electricity of any other game console on the market. The Xbox 360 may be twice as pretty as its predecessor, but it's also twice as hungry." [link]

Microsoft sued over Xbox 360 crashing
"Microsoft, the world's largest software company, is being sued by an owner of an Xbox 360 console for an alleged design flaw that makes the console overheat and lock up. The Chicago man who brought the suit, Robert Byers, said the power supply and CPU overheat affecting heat sensitive chips and causing the console to freeze. Reports of crashing and lock-ups during normal usage or online play using Xbox Live, were scattered across the Internet in the days following the November 22nd U.S. launch. The suit, which asks for class action status, blames Microsoft's determination to release a console for the Christmas market and ahead of two competitors, Sony Corp. and Nintendo. Both companies will release their next generation consoles, the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and Revolution in 2006. Byers alleges that Microsoft wanted to be first to leave the starting line so much that they sold a "defectively designed" product." [more]
