Thats Great and Yet it Sucks...

Well as i said yesterday i was going to pickup GTA and Battlefield. Well i can't really afford to pay for games at the moment so i've been trading in for store credit to get games. I had traded in several games and thought i would be able to get both... this was not the case when i went in yesterday. So i settled for just getting the GTA: Liberty City Stories.

So my review is as follows... Fuckin' Sweet.
Just like the other games, with a few slight differences. The battery life is gonna get sucked up pretty quick with this game. Lots of little load times and that takes its toll on the system. Second this game is set up in very quick simple missions, which i guess is good considering its made for a portable system. The smallest, probably the most petty, but the most missed from me, the people don't yell at you when you rip them out of their cars. That was always and forever will be my favorite part of the game. The first most of all, i can't tell you how much my friends and i laughed at hearing the Hindi Cab driver yell at you everytime you tried to jack him "Git in di back!!!" I still to this day say that phrase, and it still makes me laugh. Though it is still fun to hear the people walking down the street and the people that you crash your car yell at you. So far in just one night of play i have heard these two phrases uttered "Hey! I'm trying to cruise for Pussy here!" and "The fuck you think you're doing!". So as you can see its a very wholesome family game.

Anyway, back to the game. Its frickin sweet as i said earlier. Just about everything else is intact in the game, voice overs, music with DJs (by the way I HATE DJ CLUE!!!). The graphics haven't changed that much, the ones on the PS2 and Xbox were pretty boxy to begin with. If you own a PSP (and everyone should) and you are a fan of the series (which everyone should be) get this game you will not be dissappointed. Oh yeah and there is multiplayer on the game too, fun stuff like deliver a package/ stop the delivery, deathmatch type stuff... intresting to have in a game totally lacking in Multiplayerability, is that a word?

GTA and Battlefield in one day!!!

So today will be a good day, no check that, a great day for games. The new GTA is coming out for the PSP called GTA: Liberty City Stories, aswell as the ne Battlefield game for Xbox and PS2 called Battlefield 2: Modern Combat.

Now i know what your thinking, why do you bash the Xbox then you buy games for it. Well to be honest the main reason why i still buy games for my Xbox, though im pro-Playstation, is because my PS2 is just about on its last leg and i don't have the money to afford to buy a new one. So i would hate to get a game for my PS2 and then have it die on me and not be able to play any of the new games. And honestly the current Xbox looks just as good as the PS2, but some games just play better on different systems. I like fighting games more on the PS2 b/c of the controller but i like action games on the Xbox better for the same reason. That being said...

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat;
An action game and it looked sweet on the PC and i have heard nothing but good things about the game. I love a good first person action shooter, and im quite the fan of most any war based game, so i can't wait to pick it up.

GTA: Liberty City Stories;
You have to have been living under a rock for the past several years to not have heard of this game series, or the contraversy surrounding it. One of the better titles to be on PS2 and Xbox has now made the leap to the handheld system, and since it doesn't have Mario in it, its coming to the PSP. Can't wait to get this game either. I've been looking for something to play other than my usual sessions with Lumines or Tony Hawks Underground 2.

Once i have them in my grubby little hand i can give you a better review for everyone.

Whats old is new...

So i saw in the paper or a magazine or somewhere, i don't know, that they are releasing the Atari Retro 2. If you remember the first one it was loaded with about 15 games for the old Atari 2600, well its more of the same. The big difference is the new one has not only Pitfall but...
COMBAT!!!

Thats right, the game i was raving about not 2 weeks ago will be out again on a new plug and play system that come with 19 other games and it only costs about $30.

So everyone that is looking for a nice wedding present for me... look no further.

Xbox Schmex Box...

So as anyone of my friends know, i've been keeping close tabs on the latest console race/war, but what im hearing from almost EVERY source i have and use, is that the Xbox is not showing true "Next-Gen" stuff. Meaning that all the movies and all the hype and all the tech jargon thats spilling out of Microsoft recently isn't impressing ANYONE!!

Every magazine, every news show, every net site (other than the ones affiliated with Microsoft naturely) have said that what has been shown on the Xbox 360 looks like something the current Xbox could do. The only game that is impressing anyone is the new Cliffy B. project called "Gears Of War". Done by the team that normally does the Unreal Tournament series. That game admittedly looks totaly bad ass. Everything else looks boring. Every one out there has predicted that unless Xbox has a "Killer Ap" its going to get tossed to the ground and shat upon by the 800lb gorilla that is the Playstation 3.

Thats not even considering the fact that the first Xbox still has yet to make a profit in Japan. Yeah you know Japan, the land of milk and honey of video games. Japan still hates the first Xbox, for several reasons. Its too big, its totaly ugly, you have to buy a special remote in order to watch dvds... oh yeah and its from an American Company. Watching an on the street interview with japanese people about the Xbox 360, most of them did not have the current Xbox, and about 90% said they would not buy the next one. Good luck Xbox360... you'll need it.

Wipe The Drool Of Me Please!

I just got an issue of Playstation magazine in the mail. On the cover is an advert for the new Tony Hawk game. It basically looks like the GTA of Tony Hawk games. I want it now!

Whats Your Favorite Game...

My Favorite game of all time would have to be Final Fantasy 3 for the Super Nintendo. Now i know a lot of you fanboys out there are going "Pashaw, Final Fantasy 7 is the best game in the series." Well fuck you dick, im from the old skool. Final Fantasy 3 is by far much better than 7. The story was easy to follow and didn't have some super love story over top of everything. Guess what Aries is dead and she ain't coming back, no matter how much you pussies want her to.

FF3 also introduced a lot in the way of gameplay. The Blitz combo was actually a combo moves you had to input into the controller (like in SFII), also you had to... uh... well ok so it really only introduced the Blitz thing but still. The graphics (for the time) were awesome. The music was Nobo Umeatsu(sp) greatest in the series so far. I have the cd and still listen to it every now and then. It was an epic game in every sense of the term. i have logged more hours on that one game than i have with any other RPG combined. The game that i have saved right at the end is at somewhere around 200 hours and every person in my team is at level 99. Yes that is disgusting i know. Thats why its my most favorite game of all time.

Whats yours, and why?

I Am An Addict

I also have this addiction, partly because of you, gnarkill. I have a pocket Neo Geo for Christ's sake.
1 game I have for it and I still play it. SNK vs Capcom. I have beaten it many times yet I still play the damn thing. I love 2-D fighters. Unlike you, I have kept every game system and game I have ever owned. So I have an NES, N64, original Game Boy, GBASP, Dreamcast, Neo-Geo Pocket, PSP, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, and one of those old school controllers with 5 games on it (you know, Yie Ar Kung Fu and Gyruss). I used to be addicted to drugs but now I am addicted to eye to hand coordination. I have to go now. Lumines is calling.

Dats A Lot Of Games...

So as all my friends know, and my fiance hates, i am completely addicted to videogames. If i were to count how many systems i have had it would be about 13. Heres the break down... yes it is quite disgusting.

Atari 2600 : 55 games
Gameboy/Pocket/Advance/Sp: 40 games
NES: 75 games
Super Nintendo: 12 games
Nintendo 64: 15 games
Gamecube: 20 games
Playstation: 25 games
Playstation 2: 15 games
Xbox: 12 games
PSP: 8 games
Not to mention several hundred games that i have purchased and taken back to EB for credit to get new games.

Do the math, yeah thats an estimated 275 games for 13 systems. Thats a habit Kate Moss Couldn't touch.
The really sad thing is that i still have all but the Atari and the games for my NES. Everything else i still own, and i still play most of the recent systems (I have all 3 hooked up in my house, plus GBSP and my PSP). I honestly can't help it. I really do know what its like to be truly addicted to something. If a new game comes out that looks pretty sweet and gets good reviews, i want it. Recently i have limited myself (much of it thru the help of my Fiance) to just getting maybe 1 game every couple months. However at the height of my addiction i was seriously buying a game a week. Now i really rely on the magazines that i get (official Xbox and Playstation magazine) to feed my addiction b/c they come with demos for about 10 games each. So that helps a lot. I really am trying not to buy, but its very hard. If i had the money to blow right now, i could go to my local EB and probably pick up about 20 games that i want to purchase.

Am i alone out here, anybody else got a habit like me?

Phoenix

Speaking of Atari, I had this game called Phoenix. It was kind of like Space Invaders, ship goes left and right on the bottom of the screen shooting up at enemies. This game was so fucking weak, man. There were these birds that would fly around, and if you shot one one their wings off, it would fly around one wing flapping. Then, if you shot the other wing off, it would still fly around! It was no Rush'n Attack, let me tell you.

How did it all start?

Well i have to thank my parents for my addiction to video games. I'm a little fuzzy on the year but im pretty sure it was like 83 maybe 84, thats when i got my tiny little hands on the Atari 2600. It was primative yes, but back then we didn't know any better. It was the start of a beautiful and Very expensive habit. I won't get too specific about the games but lets just say that i had around 50 or 60, most of them were great, but some, whoooo boy. There was Pac Man, Pitfall, SpaceInvaders, Combat (more on that later). Those were the great ones. Then there was ET, Elevator, and the KoolAid game. Piss poor.

Never the less its what started it all. Combat i think was what really got me hooked. It was the only game at the time that you could litteraly play about 20 different games on the same cartridge. You could be tanks or planes, single or multiple, regular bullets or ricochet. Hours and Hours of fun. Honestly if i could find that game again on a handheld system or something like that i would probably become a hermit.

Lemme know people, if your addicted, what started it?

Different Girl, Different Donkey...

So i think im going to start up a new blog, i have and will have enough games to keep myself and about 20 of my friends busy for the rest of out lives so i figure, i'll start writing exclusivly about that on one of my blogs.

So coming soon i will post about new games coming out, old games that i love, games i never got for no damn reason and the obiligatory best and worst of.

Watch for it soon...
